Hotel Presidente

Hotel Presidente is located in downtown San Jose.  Besides being rated as a 4-star upscale and contemporary hotel, it is also holds a 4 out of 5 certification by the CST Certification for Sustainable Tourism.
In an effort to maintain Hotel Presidente's certification renewal every 2 years,  they try to educate their clients as well as the surrounding community about their eco-friendly practices.
Among the practices, they ask guests to conserve energy by turning off lights, recycle, and save water.  The temperature in each room is regulated by AC which turns off by itself after a certain time in order to avoid energy consumption when it's not necessary. Hotel Presidente, also works with the government on their recycle program.
The CST also rates on community outreach and Hotel Presidente offers 2 support centers that work with children. The leftover food is donated to local farmers and the cooking oil is recycled into biogas.
