FIRST ECO-URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN COSTA RICA
Bosques de Escazu is located about 20 away from downtown San Jose, Costa Rica and it is considered the first eco-urban development. The developer hopes to set an example throughout Costa Rica so that others become more aware of the social impact in construction. The site is composed of over 5 acres with mountain landscape which include local flora, walking trails, scenery and a harmony with nature. The project includes 4 residential towers with 1, 2, or 3 bedroom units.
The landscape design will be using only native trees like Jacaranda, Guachipelin, Acerola, Roble de Sabana and many others.
Some of the sustainable features and materials of the project include and underground recycling plant, gray water stream, permeable concrete, solar panels and solar water heaters, cross ventilation, smart pumps in pool, green roof, thermal glass, natural lighting, walking trail, and LED exterior lighting.
Even though, the project is still not completed, it already won the 2012 national award on most sustainable project.
